Welcome to the Cuyamaca College
2007 - 2010 Accreditation Web Site
The purpose of this web site is to acquaint you with the
Cuyamaca College accreditation team structure, processes, and major activities related to maintaining accreditation for the institution by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges/Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC/WASC). Since the accreditation site visit by the Evaluation Team from ACCJC/WASC on October 22-25, 2007, the college has submitted a Fall 2009
Follow-Up Report (which was formally accepted by the Accrediting Commission in January 2010) and is now preparing to
submit the Fall 2010 Focused Midterm Report*.
The ACCJC/WASC is a regional accrediting agency recognized by the United States government. Accreditation by this agency signifies to the educational community and to the public at large that Cuyamaca College has met the standards of quality recognized as necessary for preparing competent students and graduates as well as for receiving public funding.
The preparation of the institutional Self Study and the updating of that Self Study through the submission of periodic reports to the Accrediting Commission are the cornerstones of the accreditation process. To promote the needed widespread
participation in the accreditation process, teams that drew from all college constituencies – students, faculty, staff and administrators – were formed when the Self Study was being written prior to Fall 2007. Now, a team with more limited membership (but maintaining representation from the
constituencies) has been convened to respond to the Recommendations made by the visiting Evaluation Team in 2007 (see 2007 Evaluation Report) as well as to the Planning Agenda items that the college itself included in the Self Study. Careful, thorough, and appropriately documented responses to
both the Evaluation Team’s review and to the college’s own internal action predictions will ensure continuous improvement in providing the high quality education that is congruent with the Cuyamaca College mission.
This web site is designed to facilitate the dissemination to all constituencies of information concerning ACCJC’s communication with the college and the college’s fulfillment of periodic accreditation reporting obligations. By using the links itemized on the left, you will have access to a record of the college’s ongoing interaction with the Accrediting Commission and to the
reports that the college has filed in compliance with the Commission’s accreditation requirements. Through this web site, you are invited to participate in the collegial interaction that is an integral part of the accreditation process.
