Assessment Testing

First Time Here?

The English and math assessment results are used to help evaluate your present skill levels and assist in the selection of appropriate English and math classes. You will not be cleared to enroll into any collegiate level English or math courses until you either participate in Assessment, or qualify for an exemption. See exemption qualifications in TO OBTAIN AN EXEMPTIONNo scores will be given over the phone.

English as a Second language students MAY NOT take the English for native speaker assessment.

ENGLISH/ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE EXAM

Cuyamaca College offers two (2) types of English tests. The English test is for students whose first language is English. The ESL test is recommended for students whose first language is not English and wish to continue studying English as their second language.

MATH EXAM

You will also be given a computation test. The test scores will be used to place you into the appropriate math class.
