Getting ready for the walk
Hospital Pt. Tidepool Field Trip, 2006:
Ocea-112 Students gathering before going into the rocky IT Name this beautiful organism. Turkish towel alga [Gigartina]. Brittle star [Ophioplocus] So much to see in such a small area. California mussel: Mytilus californianus. Sea hare amidst the algae.
Juvenile Aplysia californica. Not a single seal in sight. End to a perfect morning.
Sea lettuce [Ulva], crustose coralline algae, chitons [Mopalia muscosa], barnacles, limpets, aggregating anenomes.
Aplysia californica. Nearly 10 inches in length. Approximately 2 inches in length. South to Children's Pool. Note quanty of algal growth in the water.
