Associate in Science degrees with an emphasis in Web Development are awarded when students have completed:

12 units of Department CIS Core Requirements.

• A minimum of 18 units of CIS/GD Department Electives.

Total:  30-36 units for the CIS Department plus the general education requirements.

DEGREE Requirements


This Associate in Science degree program equips students with the essential coding, programming, and design skills needed to build websites and applications for desktop and mobile platforms. Students gain practical experience using state of the art web development technology to prepare for entry-level positions as web developers. The curriculum is continually updated to respond to rapidly changing industry trends.

This program was updated July 2014. Students who began prior to fall 2014 can choose to follow the old program or the new one using this Program Changes document as a guide.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Write valid HTML and CSS code to create web content, structure and presentation.
  2. Code and debug JavaScript and jQuery to develop interactive web pages.
  3. Code and debug PHP and MySQL to develop dynamic (database-integrated) web applications.
  4. Integrate industry-standard technologies and design principles to develop sites that are attractive, usable, and functional on multiple platforms and devices, including mobile devices.
