Announcements

  • The MSDNAA program allows us to give Microsoft products to students and staff for free.  Products include MS Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Visio Professional 2002, Visual Studio 6.0 Pro, Visual Basic.Net, and SQL Server 2000.  Instructions are in the back of each classroom. To add your students to the database, send your section number to .
  • Job and wage information is available from the California Employment Development Department and the San Diego Workforce Partnership.
  • We'd like for all CIS teachers to create a home page. For help, contact Cheryl Alvarez, Cheryl.Alvarez[at]gcccd.net or use our new home page spinner (you can get your password from Jodi Reed). You can also use this to change the info that shows up on the CIS faculty directory.
  • All teachers are required to submit a syllabus by the end of the first week of class. Please see the syllabus guide for details.
  • The week before classes begin is staff development week.  All teachers are required to put in the same number of hours they spend in the classroom in a week (assuming an entirely face-to-face load).  Please see the staff development site for details.

Technical Problems

Software

  • Students and teachers can get great deals on software at Southland Technology.
  • Techsmith has created some handy tools for screen capture that can help you make better handouts or even video tutorials.
  • Gradware.com (located in Kearney Mesa) offers academic prices for software and hardware.
