Message from Teresa McNeil, Articulation
Officer, April 19, 2012
I did a little research to help in the
advising of students that might earn an
AA-T/AS-T degree from Cuyamaca College this
spring and wants to transfer to a CSU in
Spring 2013. (As a
reminder, those CSU’s that will be open next
spring for students with AA-T/AS-T degrees
are: Channel Islands, Chico,
East Bay, Fullerton, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, San Bernardino and Sonoma.)
Nearly all have what they call
Similar Degrees:
Communication Studies
Channel Islands, Chico, East Bay,
Fullerton, Los Angeles, San Francisco and
Sonoma
Psychology
Channel Islands, Chico, East Bay,
Fullerton, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San
Francisco and Sonoma
Sociology
Channel Islands, Chico, East Bay,
Fullerton, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San
Francisco, and Sonoma
This is only a starting point
when advising. It is important
to look on that list of CSU Similar Degrees
on the sb1440 website.
You will see that these degrees could have
areas of specialization or emphases.
For example, the Communication
degrees that Chico says are similar are
Communication Studies-Communication and
Public Affairs Option, or Communication
Studies-Organizational Communication Option.
This might not be exactly what the
student wants.
