Financial Aid Steps

BOGW

The Board of Governors Waiver Program (BOGW) provides three ways to help you pay enrollment fees and it also makes you eligible for a reduced parking permit fee.  The program also has a special classification criteria which may qualify you to have only your enrollment fees waived if you don't qualify through the other three methods.

FAFSA

Apply for a federal PIN number from the U.S. Department of Education at www.pin.ed.gov (If you have a federal PIN number but have forgotten it, you can ask to have it sent to you from the PIN website) Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov

IMPORTANT: You must specify your housing plans by marking an appropriate "bubble" ("on-campus", "off-campus" or "with parents".) This information will affect your eligibility and the amount of your award.

Based on your FAFSA information your may be required to turn in additional paperwork to the Financial Aid Office.  Below are examples of the paperwork you may be required to turn in.

Complete, sign and submit to the Financial Aid Office:

Dependent Students:

  • Verification Checklist
  • Dependent Verification Worksheet
  • Copy of student and parent Federal Tax Return Transcripts

Independent student:

  • Verification Checklist
  • Independent Verification Worksheet
  • Copy of student and/or spouse Federal Tax Return    Transcript

If you are unsure of the form(s) you need to fill out, you can either visit our office or go online to Web Advisor to check the application status of your file.

Check with the Financial Aid Office for any other additional information that may be required or check your status through Web Advisor. Visit www.cuyamaca.edu and select Web Advisor under the "Online Services" tab.
