Goal: To evaluate the agents, methods, and outcomes of socialization for a specific individual.

 Part I - Agents of Socialization

What values, norms, and practices were taught to you by your family? What skills, customs, and beliefs were taught to your by your school experiences? Give an example of how teaching methods impacted your socialization. What perspectives and information about the world did you learn through your peers? What types of models did the mass media provide for you to emulate while during your “School Years?” What community agencies provided support to you or your family? How did they help in your development?

What attachments did you develop as a child and how did the attachment(s) with this person (people) influence your socialization? What is an example of operant methods of socialization you experienced? What is an example of observational methods of socialization you experienced? What is an example of cognitive methods of socialization you experienced? What types of sociocultural methods of socialization (traditions, rituals, group pressure, conformity, etc.) did you experience? What is an example of apprenticeship methods (guided participation) of socialization did you experience?

Part III – Outcomes of Socialization

1. As a result of your socialization experiences, briefly summarize your personal:
   1. Values
   2. Attitudes
   3. Motives and attributes
   4. Self-esteem
   5. Self-regulation / behavior
   6. Morals
   7. Gender role expectations
2. Generally, would you consider your socialization experiences positive or negative?
3. Do you think the aims of socialization were achieved including:
   1. Development of self-concept
   2. Enable self-regulation
   3. Empower achievement
   4. Learn appropriate social goals
   5. Use developmental skills (Havignhurst)
4. Please type your paper as a MICROSOFT WORD DOCUMENT, with 1” margins, using a 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and APA format.
