Library Research on Genetically Modified Foods

Introduction
  The first genetically engineered food was brought to market in 1996. Since that time, genetically modified (GM) foods have proven to be controversial. Opponents call them Frankenfoods and say they threaten our health and the environment. Proponents say they are safe, environmentally friendly, and may help end world hunger. What do you know about GM foods?

STEP 1: Find Books

Use the LIBRARY CATALOG to find books. Use the following terms to search:

  • Genetically modified food
  • Organic farming
  • Natural foods
  • Food biotechnology
  • Food quality
  • Food safety measures 

STEP 2: Go to the Library Homepage and open the link called, Controversial Issues
Choose Opposing Viewpoints in context
(database), SIRS Researcher or CQ Researcher.
