Activity #1 Bring in and discuss current
topics (magazines, internet news articles, newspapers,
etc) relevant to each chapter of our text.
- Library research tip:
there are several ways to find articles. The first way is to
use the database called General Onefile. You
will find this database by going to the Library homepage, to
databases A-Z and to Academic Onefile.
- The second way is
to search reliable websites.

Activity #2
You will visit a local art
museum and write a report on your actual experience. You will
investigate a work of visual art OR compare two
objects from different civilizations. San Diego offers several
free and student-discounted options which we will discuss in
class. Go

Activity #3: Creative Project Report
You will
develop a creative project of your own choosing and approved by
me. The project will illustrate some movement, concept, style,
form, medium, etc. from the history of Western or non-Western
culture (i.e. a thematic collage; a work of art, literature or
music in a distinctive style; a model showing a distinctive
architectural style; a meal using recipes from a particular
culture or period; a short scene from a piece of classical
theater (collaboration will be permitted on some projects); etc.
You will
write a brief (250-350 word, typed, double-space in 12 pt. Times
New Roman font with 1" margins) explanation of your project,
including a bibliography of research, detailing how the project
exemplifies the style, movement, etc., that you have chosen.
