Purpose:
To be familiar with a mathematician who expanded humankind's
understanding of mathematics. You will write a two-page
biography on a mathematician that focuses on his or her
contribution to mathematics.
Procedure:
1. Use the
Cuyamaca College Library as your main research location.
2. Search for a
mathematician who interests you.
3. Then use the
various library resources to find out about your mathematician's
life and contribution(s) to mathematics.
4. Focus on
your mathematician's impact on the mathematics and science
fields. Also, elaborate on his or her impact on our everyday
world.
5. Your
biography must be two typed pages long (not including
pictures). Please use Times New Roman, size 12. Your report
must be double-spaced and include a bibliography. Also, if you
are using other authors' work in your biography, then please
properly cite them. Not citing them is plagiarism. Use the
various library resources to find out how to write a
bibliography and to cite work.
6. Your
biography is due on either Wednesday, March 28, 2007, or
Thursday, March 29, 2007. Please only hand in a hard copy. No
electronic submission please.
