The assignment:  You are going to find psychological research tell me your opinion about it. 

 

What is Psychology research? 

Psychologists conduct scientific experiments to validate their hypothesis. They are reported in Scientific Journals .  You have to be careful to determine if they are actually reporting research or their own opinion.  Make sure that your articles are from academic sources.  Often times you find psychology papers on the web that are produced by high school students, or by companies attempting to sell you things.  Stay away from PSYCHOLOGY TODAY, and NEWSWEEK and newspapers because their information is often biased and written to make you buy their material.  If you the opportunity to be a part of a research project, then you can bring proof of your participation, and and written reaction to the experience.

 

What is your opinion?

I want you to read the research and then tell me what you think.  What is your reaction to the research? What good will come out of it? Some research seems to be a waste of time, other research could have major repercussions.  Did they use animals or people, and were the subject treated fairly?  I DO NOT want you to give me a summary of the article. 
I like to read them myself. I DO NOT want the authors opinion about what happened, I want your own opinion. 

 

How do I get my 5 points?

It must be typed and turned in prior to the 4th  Exam.  It must be college level writing.  Please do not use slang terms and make sure that you have complete sentences.  The source must be from a ACADEMIC SOURCE.  I will give credit only for quality work.
