Professional Development: Online Opportunities

Online Professional Development Opportunities

  • @One
    Fall schedule of courses

@ONE makes it easy for California Community College faculty and staff to learn how to use technology to enhance student learning and success. @ONE’s programs provide training, online resources and support for free - or at a very low cost - thanks to funding from the California Community College Chancellor's Office Telecommunication and Technology Infrastructure Program (TTIP).

These programs are developed by outstanding peers in technology and education, providing the best quality content that is based in true life experiences of California Community College faculty and staff.

The programs are also structured to fit a busy faculty or staff member’s schedule. Programs include Lunch 'n Learn Desktop Seminars, Online Courses, Self-Paced Online courses, Hands-On Institutes and online resources. @ONE also sponsors the @ONE Scholar Program, which supports research on using technology to improve student learning in California Community Colleges.  Visit http://www.cccone.org/ to see a complete listing or courses and workshops offered.

Note: Submit certificate upon completion to Dean of Learning and Technology Resources.

  • Teaching with Blackboard Online Course

This course will take you step-by-step through the basics of building an online course in Blackboard. The hands-on exercises in each module will help guide you through the development process.

The course content is divided into several small sections so that you will be able to progress through the course at your own pace.  Not everyone will want or need to complete the entire course.  Some faculty may have already been teaching with Blackboard and want to review specific areas of interest in the course.  This course is structured to allow faculty to get the information they need, when they need it.  The content will always be available for reference and review.

We recommend that faculty who have not taught with Blackboard before complete the entire course and earn a Certificate of Completion.  The syllabus provides additional information about the course.

Please attend an orientation during Professional Development Week or after that week email Rhonda Bauerlein at rhonda.bauerlein@gcccd.edu to sign up for this course. http://www.cuyamaca.edu/tlc/workshops/twb.asp
