Location: off campus
Even John Muir considered the view from San Jacinto peak to be one of the most sublime on earth, so let's snowshoe from Long Valley to the top of Mount San Jacinto and use nature to nurture those intercollegiate relationships. We'll meet near the ticket booth at the valley station of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway when it opens around 7:30 AM and take the first tram to Long Valley at 8:00 AM. If you don't own snowshoes, you can rent them from REI or A16. So reach out and setup a carpool to Palm Springs with someone from your discipline/area at the sister college or another discipline/area at your own college. The route to the summit will depend on the snow conditions, so the hike could be 7 to 11 miles round-trip with an elevation gain of approximately 2500 ft. Another option is to do part of the hike and then work on some team-building activities in the snow or discuss intercollegiate issues at the Tramway Mountain Station beverage counter until the folks intent on summiting return. Other than transportation, the cost is $30 for the tram and additional money for cheers and dinner afterward. More information will follow when you RSVP. This activity will be canceled if less than three people RSVP.
To preregister please send an email to Terrie Nichols at email@example.com by Friday, January 24th, at noon.
