Cuyamaca Women have solid
recruiting class of 2012 .
Hughes however will not be alone for the 2012 season. Joining her will be
a quartet of runners who competed
for Coach Cleves at West Hills.
Leading that group will be Betty
Covvarubias who was a top 3
competitor for the Wolfpack in 2011.
Not far behind Betty will be Kailin
Anderson, another top 7 runner for
the Wolfpack last season as well as
Kailene Gini and Sarah Snyder who
ran the streets of Santee as part of
the graduating class of 2011.
Also coming from the east county is
for El Capitan Vaquero, Ashley
Fishman who comes to the Coyotes as
a fairly new runner who showed great
potential in her short time with the
Vaqueros. In addition to this
potential she brings a work ethic
with her that is destined to help
her reach that potential.
Fellow Grossmont Conference recruits
include a duo of El Cajon Valley
athletes. Tameka Ross, a sprinter by
trade looks to get back in top form
after a year away from the sport.
Fellow Brave Nahidah Abboodi a
newcomer to cross country has shown
great early season form and figures
to be a quick study.
Joining the Women's team from
farther away are two young ladies
who bring great credentials as
leaders of their high school teams
that will make them quickly become
assets. Seleena Boubion of Serra
High School and Renee Zertuche of
Mountain Empire. These young ladies
have traveled some distance to be a
part of this team as they see that
good things are in store this
season.
This recruiting class will join 3
redshirt ladies from last season.
Heather Mort, the 2010 Cuyamaca
number 1 runner who missed last
season with a foot injury. Laura
Delgado who redshirted cross country
but was the Coyote's best distance
runner during the track season,
advancing to regionals in the 800
meters and Jacy Epperson a redshirt
from 2011 who also joins the team
from Mountain Empire where she was
the 2 time league champion in cross
country.
